Green Public Procurement - Action Plan 2024
Although the overall purpose of TRIWA LIFE is to improve stream and wetland habitats within the Torne River Catchment area, and the project actions will primarily be positive for the environment, the methods used will inevitably also have a negative environmental footprint. Therefore, one specific project objective is:
SO4. Minimise negative climate and environmental impact of the project actions themselves, reducing GHG emissions with at least 63 % when compared to the baseline, and thereby accelerate green transition in the region and develop a Greener Best Practice for similar largescale nature restoration projects.
The most significant negative environmental impact, and the highest priority for intervention, is the carbon footprint from subcontracted machine work and transport and travel. These are all activities that will be publicly procured, meaning that the most important tool for TRIWA LIFE to reduce negative environmental impact from the projects activities themselves is to apply best environmental management practice for green public procurement.
This is the first version of the TRIWA LIFE Green Public Procurement action plan. The plan will be developed and updated yearly during the project to facilitate continuous improvements.
