Owning, caring for, exhibiting or treating animals
The County Administrative Board oversees animal welfare and animal transport. We issue permits for various animal-related activities and support animal healthcare professionals. If you keep animals you may need to notify us, for example if you run a visitor activity involving animals.

Transport of animals
When animals are transported, they must be transported in a safe manner and the animals must not be subjected to injury or suffering during transport. The County Administrative Board checks animal transport, from transporting pets in cars, to larger slaughter transportation. We also inspect transport vehicles that are going to transport animals.
Animal stables
Are you going to build or rebuild a stable? You may need to apply for a preliminary inspection. The County Administrative Board then examines your planned construction to see if it meets the requirements for animal welfare and animal husbandry.
Apply for a veterinarian for competitions
If you arrange certain types of competitions where animals are involved, then you are responsible for ensuring that there is a competition veterinarian present. You apply for a competition veterinarian through the Swedish Board of Agriculture.
