Veterinary surgeons for public competitions
Many public competitions with animals require there to be a competition veterinary surgeon on site. You apply for a veterinary surgeon to the County Administrative Board, and then the person is employed by the Swedish Board of Agriculture.
If you are going to organise a public competition with animals, a competition veterinary surgeon is usually required to be present. The veterinary surgeon must inspect the participating animals and the competition area before the start and monitor the welfare of the animals throughout the competition.
The Swedish Board of Agriculture has more information about the competitions at which a veterinary surgeon must be present.
The e-services and forms of the County Administrative Board in this field are not available in English. If you wish to submit an application or notification, you may contact the County Administrative Board, which can inform you how to proceed.
What does it cost?
It costs nothing to apply for a competition veterinary surgeon for a public competition. However, you need to pay for the veterinary surgeon’s attendance. The Swedish Board of Agriculture will invoice you for this afterwards.
