Who may apply?
Aid from the Climate Leap initiative may be sought by undertakings, regions and county councils, municipalities and municipal companies, associations, housing cooperatives, foundations and others. Private individuals may not apply for aid through the Climate Leap initiative.
What may I obtain aid for?
The Climate Leap initiative is investment aid for local and regional measures to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and other gases which affect the climate. Other desired effects are the spread of new technology, market take-up, better health and employment and for environmental targets other than ‘Limited climate effects’ to be impacted positively. Measures which help reduce emissions of greenhouse gases in agriculture are a priority.
Aid can be given to anyone other than private individuals. Those who have been granted aid are, for example, undertakings, municipalities, county councils, housing cooperatives and other organisations.
Measures which have received aid are specific climate investments in, for example, transport, industry, housing, premises, urban design and energy. It can be anything from transport, biogas and infrastructure, such as cycle paths, to the destruction of nitrous oxide and exchanging oil for district heating. It is no longer possible to apply for aid for information measures in the Climate Leap initiative.
Examples of measure for which you may seek aid:
- Decarbonising energy.
- Using residual heat.
- Building refuelling points for renewable fuels for transport, such as biogas.
- Building facilities to increase recovery or produce biogas.
- Reducing emissions of methane or nitrous dioxide.
- Installing charging stations for e-vehicles in public places.
- Purchasing fossil-free heavy-duty vehicles or machinery.
The measures for which you are seeking aid must be locally or regionally based and in line with the county's climate and energy strategy.
Criteria for receiving aid
The applications are assessed primarily on the climate effectiveness of the measures. Climate effectiveness means the reduction in emissions over the life of the measure divided by the cost of the investment. Other criteria are, amongst others:
- The measure must have a sufficiently large climate benefit. The climate benefit must be at least 0.75 kg carbon dioxide equivalent per invested SEK.
- The measure must not be profitable without aid.
- The measure may not entail the production of renewable energy which can be covered by an electricity certificate.
- The measure must not be designed to reduce emissions in emissions trading, unless it involves using residual heat.
You must receive a decision on aid before you can initiate your measure.
Your measure must be implemented by spring 2026 at the latest.
