When the infrastructure in the county is to be altered or renewed, many community actors are involved. The County Administrative Board participates in all planning processes in one way or another.

Social sustainability

The County Administrative Board’s mission to promote social sustainability entails numerous undertakings. The social issues addressed include integration, gender equality and human rights.

Cultural environment

Culturally valuable buildings, environments and ancient monuments provide both cultural experiences and knowledge of our county. The County Administrative Board decides on permits to alter protected cultural environments and on the allocation of grants to care for them.

Planning and building

Each municipality is responsible for ensuring that the planning of its land and water areas takes nature, culture, the environment and climate into consideration. The role of the County Administrative Board is to coordinate various public interests and the interests of government authorities, and to ensure that national objectives impact the actions of the county.
