Game parks

Are you planning to keep animals in game parks? Then you need a permit both to set up the enclosure and to have the animals fenced in. You apply to the County Administrative Board for these permits.

Game parks are enclosures for wild animals that are often located in areas where the right of public access applies. Under the Environmental Code, a permit is therefore required to set up the enclosure. You also need a permit under the Hunting Ordinance to have the animals fenced in.

The e-services and forms of the County Administrative Board in this field are not available in English. If you wish to submit an application or notification, you may contact the County Administrative Board, which can inform you how to proceed.

Permit to build a game park

You apply to the County Administrative Board for a permit to build a game park. We then examine how suitable the location is for a game park. Among other things, the Environmental Code governs how the enclosure affects the right of public access and the natural and cultural environment.

Before you start building, the enclosure must be tested. In a preliminary investigation we examine, among other things, whether your game park meets the animal welfare regulations. When you have finished building, the County Administrative Board must inspect the enclosure before you can use it.

Applying for a permit to build a game park costs SEK 7 100. You pay the fee at the same time as submitting your application.
